Please be advised that the City has issued a permit for tree removal near the intersection of Carp Road and Donald B. Munro Drive in the Village of Carp. This includes the large elm tree on City property at that location.
The removal is necessary to allow for the installation of the watermain, sewer, and multi-use pathway for the new subdivision development at 147 Langstaff.

The City has strict parameters in place when healthy trees need to be removed, and the development site has been carefully reviewed by both the City and the developer (you can read the studies and reports at the links below). Engineers have determined there were no practical alternatives which would allow the construction of the subdivision’s infrastructure to occur without impacting the tree.
The developer (Iverness Homes) will be required to pay compensation to the City for the removal of the tree. Discussions are underway about possible replacement of the tree, post-construction.
Carp Road Closure from Rivington to Falldown Lane
The infrastructure work listed above will also require the closure of Carp Road from Rivington to Falldown Lane. That part of the road will be closed from Monday, January 27, 2025, to Friday, January 31, 2025. However, we would like to stress that, during the closure, residents can still access the local businesses on Carp Road from Falldown Lane to Donald B. Munro. They just have to enter and exit at Falldown Lane.
You can read more about the road closure at the two files below:
UPDATE: Please be advised that this closure has now been extended into next week. The new re-opening date is Friday Feb 7, 2025.
