The 72nd Annual Ottawa Sports Awards were held on Wednesday (Feb 5, 2025) at the Infinity Convention Centre. Councillor Kelly was on hand to help present awards to some of the many worthy athletes from across our region. The list included West Carleton snowboarder Caily Lemmex.
"It was a pleasure to be in attendance again this year for the Ottawa Sports Awards to assist in passing out the awards to the many well deserving local athletes," Councillor Kelly said. "One of the highlights of the night for me was watching West Carleton’s very own Caily Lemmex receive the award for Outstanding Athletic Achievement in snowboarding. Caily is a Canada Snow Athlete, the 2023 Junior National Snowboard Cross Champion and a selected member of the Ontario High Performance snowboard team.

"I was also pleased to present the softball award to Fitzroy's Colton Lecuyer. Lecuyer played for the Napanee Express U17 men’s fastpitch softball team this season. His team finished second at Canadians and he was named an All-Canadian infielder. In nine games he batted .409, with 9 hits including two triples and a home run, batting in 15 runs, and walked 7 times, with no fielding errors.

"I truly admire the work and dedication that not only these athletes put in, but also the parents, coaches, officials and everyone else in our communities, who provide these sporting opportunities to people of all ages in our City.
"Congratulations to all of this year's winners!"
