Councillor Kelly's Remembrance Day Statement

Updated: Nov 28

I am proud to be part of a community that comes out to honour the many Canadians who have served their country with honour and bravery as part of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Today, we remember and celebrate the dedication of those who serve and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country and fellow Canadians. Democracy and freedom are fragile things, and we must continuously remind ourselves of that, as we remember those who have put their lives on the line to defend those values.

Thank you to all of our community members who serve, thank you to both the Constance Bay Legion Branch 616 as well as the organizers of the ceremony today in Carp, Cheryl Bush and Peter Bowles for organizing two beautiful ceremonies, and of course all the members of our community who are dedicated to remembering those who serve and preserving the collected memory of those experiences.

The gallery of photos below from this year's ceremony also include images of my two grandfathers who served in the war. I will always remember them.
