Today I was very disappointed to learn that, despite Ottawa City Council rejecting a Municipal Support Resolution for this project in December 2023, the IESO have selected a site at the corner of Homesteaders and Galetta Side Road for a Battery Energy Storage Facility.
During committee and Council meetings I adamantly opposed this particular project based on the lack of meaningful consultation, many unanswered legitimate questions, feedback from residents, as well as the sheer scale of this proposed project and the land it could affect. I heard very clearly from the community that they were very uncomfortable with what they were hearing.

I will be speaking with everyone involved in this application along with my council colleagues to determine the next steps that I will take. I can assure you that I will do everything in my power to see that the community’s desires are reflected in any final decision.
