Effective October 28, 2024, flu vaccines and the updated COVID-19 vaccines are available for all residents aged 6 months and older at no cost.
Ottawa Public Health (OPH) recommends that everyone 6 months and older get the annual flu vaccine and the updated KP.2-containing COVID-19 mRNA vaccine. Flu and COVID-19 vaccines are particularly recommended for people at high risk of severe illness.
Pharmacies continue to be the main point of access for flu and COVID-19 vaccines. Most pharmacies that offer vaccines will have both COVID-19 vaccines and flu shots available (please check with your nearest pharmacy before you go).
Here is a list of pharmacies offering the flu and COVID-19 vaccines in Ward 5
West Carleton Drug Mart - 461 Donald B. Munro Drive / Carp, ON
Constance Bay Pharmacy - 179 Constance Bay Road / Woodlawn, ON
*Please note, availability and vaccine offerings at local pharmacies may change. We suggest you check with your local pharmacy before you go.
Residents can receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the same time as, or at any time before or after the flu shot or other routine vaccinations. COVID-19 vaccine administration for children 6 months to under 5 years old may vary from pharmacy to pharmacy. Contact the pharmacy before booking an appointment or learn where to get the updated COVID-19 vaccine.
Children 6 months to 2 years old must get their flu shot from a doctor, a nurse practitioner, or a local public health unit. Children under 2 years old cannot get a flu shot at a pharmacy.
Other options for getting your flu and updated COVID-19 vaccine include:
Checking with your regular health care provider to see if they offer the vaccines.
Booking an appointment at an OPH Community Clinic to get your vaccines. Please note capacity may be limited.
If you face barriers to accessing a vaccine, including newcomers without OHIP and children under 2 (along with their household members), you may visit an OPH Neighbourhood Health and Wellness Hub, for vaccines on a walk-in basis. Other eligible residents may be able to access COVID-19 and flu vaccinations, as capacity allows.
