(Survey closes February 6th, 2023)--
Background
The City of Ottawa is developing an Economic Development Strategy for the new Term of Council (2022-2026).
The strategy, in addition to other outreach including the Mayor's Economic Summit, will support and advance Ottawa’s economic growth and resiliency by addressing the challenges and opportunities of the post-pandemic economy with the vision to make Ottawa the most liveable mid-sized city in North America.
The strategy will build upon well-established partnerships and programs and prioritize and guide the City’s investment in economic development. It will aim to be bold and forward-thinking while being impactful and practical by providing recommendations and tactical actions for implementation over the short and medium term.
Approach
The development of this strategy will require approaches that address economic challenges and capitalize on Ottawa's strengths and competitive advantages.
It will reflect an updated analysis of Ottawa’s economy and broader economic trends as well as forward-thinking input from economic development partners, stakeholders, and the broader business community.
The development of the strategy is driven by a set of eight (8) Guiding Principles, which have been developed to provide a framework and focus for this work.
The phases of strategy development include:
Analysis of Ottawa’s Economy and Broader Economic Trends
Stakeholder Engagement
Development of a draft Economic Development Strategy and Implementation Plan
