Back in March of 2024, CAFES Ottawa hosted a workshop in Kinburn on our power grid and the future of electricity capacity. Councillor Kelly hosted the evening, welcoming the workshop to the West Carleton Community Complex in Kinburn.
The purpose of the workshop was three-fold:
To provide the community with information on the challenges faced by the Ontario electrical power grid and the expected evolution of the grid over the medium term
To provide the community with more information on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in the context of the IESO LT1 procurement process.
To provide an opportunity for the community to dialogue on what effective local grid energy project consultations should look like.
You can read the full report from the workshop that CAFES put together. It contains information on both parts of the workshop: the electricity grid seminar and the community dialogue on effective local grid energy project consultations.
They've also produced a highlight video from the evening.
